Discussion 42: Read Pastor Cha's sermon (2-8-15), the sermon by Ray Stedman (Acts 13:1-13), and today's devotion (2-15-15).

In today's sermon, "The Work To Which The Holy Spirit Has Called You", according to the section "Summary From Last Week(#42)": How has the work of the Gospel been accomplished, and how is this mysterious work recognized? Why has it always been considered rubbish to the eyes of the world? How and why has God awakened His people from their complacency and laziness? Why does God break our spiritual confinement and allow a visible imprisonment? What happens when we start praying earnestly in truth? How have the churches in this last age begun to cast out the power of darkness?

In the section "Prophets and teachers": How is the church of Antioch growing? When does the power of truth establish us as one body in Christ, and what happens as a result?

What does Ephesians 4:11-14 say about why God gave us different workers in the church? What workers does God first establish? What is the meaning of each of the four various types of positions for the ministry of the word? What does the word equip (prepare) mean in this text, and how does it relate to our living in the sinful world? What will happen if some other methods other than the Word of the Gospel are employed for the same purpose? How does John 8:32 state this more precisely?

What does John 12:24-26 say about servants? How did Jesus serve us, and how are we to serve Him? What is the same as serving and following Jesus? How is the same rule applied to serve others in our ministry? How are true servants of Christ established?

How does God distribute the work of the ministry among the saints? What does Romans 8:4-8 say about the different gifts we have according the grace given us? What happens as every saint is equipped in truth, and the church is spiritually organized??

In the section "While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting ...": What are the two things Antioch church leaders focus on to receive God's guidance for their future ministry? What is not and what is worshiping, and what is needed to receive the Lord's serving and follow His serving to do this worshiping? What is not and what is fasting, and how does Isaiah 58:4-6 define it? What is and isn't "fasting prayer", and what does religious fasting prayer do?

What happens when Antioch church leaders are wholeheartedly seeking God's specific guidance and direction? What does the word "call" mean? Why do God's predestined saints gather together at the church and pray? What does Ephesians 1:11-12 say about this? Why is knowing God's heavenly will and method through our own effort absolutely impossible? What does Ephesians 1:13-14 say about being sealed by the Holy Spirit?

Why and how does the devil keep tempting and deceiving us? How does 2 Timothy 1:7-8 tell us to fight a spiritual fight? What is our incorrect fear and misunderstanding of the Gospel that is really the true Gospel? How does Philippians 1:3-5 speak about church unity, and how does Ephesians 1:17-19 show how this is accomplished? How is the Holy Spirit now calling prophets and teachers of the church and giving them more specific work?

In the "Conclusion": How can our church do the work to which the Holy Spirit has called us? What will happen as everyone finds their own right place as a part of Jesus' body? How will the Holy Spirit begin to work mightily in our church body? How will we become the most Gospel-oriented church in history?

In "The Strategy Of The Spirit", by Ray Stedman: Why is the thirteenth chapter considered a "turning point" in the book of Acts? What is distinctive about the men mentioned in verse one, and what were they doing? What does this account teach us about seeking and following God's will? How does God sometimes speak to us, and why is it easier to "steer" someone who is moving as opposed to someone sitting still? How did God "separate" Barnabas and Saul for His work both individually and corporately? Explain the blending of God's will and theirs in the mission travels and how Philippians 2:12-13 demonstrates this.

Why do you think they usually began their work in the synagogues? Who was John Mark, and why did they choose him? Why is it a mistaken idea to think we are like robots ruled by impulses from the Spirit? How does understanding that God lives in us help you to better comprehend the strategy of the Spirit and that we are co-laborers with God? How were Barnabas and Saul able to get a hearing with the pagan pro-consul? What were the Jewish and Greek names of the false prophet and what did they mean? How were his beliefs like those of many pseudo-Christian cults today? What did Saul, now called Paul, accuse him of?

Why is this event significant in the ministry of Paul? How is this confirmed in verse thirteen? What impressed the pro-consul most about Paul? What is the "remarkable, radical doctrine of Christianity"? How can we become faithful imitators of Paul, as he was of Christ?

In today's daily devotion, entitled "Bring The Boy To Me": According to this devotion, what is sometimes the best thing to do when we have disagreements and personal struggles with our loved ones? How do you see this reflected in Mark 9:14-27?
