Discussion 27: Read Pastor Cha's sermon (10-19-14), the sermon by Ray Stedman (Acts 4:32-5:11), and today's devotion (10-26-14).

In today"s sermon, "Do Not Test The Spirit of The Lord", according to the section "Summary from last week (28)": How did the purpose of their wealth change for the faithful believers when they gathered as one united community?

How is the redemptive work of Christ being fulfilled with the use of our wealth? In what ways should and should not our wealth be used to help others?

In the section "With his wife's full knowledge he kept back part of the money for himself": How are the actions of Barnabas and Ananias & Sapphira examples of the way we should and should not use our wealth?

How are their actions compounded by their compliance (agreeing to do things together) and what is the significance of their being husband and wife?

Review the paragraph which begins with: "What is truth?", and try to relate the same question asked by Pilate in John 18:38 (compare I Chronicles 29:14 with John 19:11 to get further insight into this question)? How is all this answered by Jesus in John 14:6?

What are the motives of false believers' hearts as shown in last part of this section? How does gaining the "heart of Christ" keep Satan from filling and controlling your heart?

In the section "Didn't it belong to you before it was sold? ... You have not lied to men but to God"(v.4): How is your giving or offerings really the work of the Holy Spirit, not a decision of your own?

Read Galations 6:6-9, and explain why it is so important to renew our hearts and minds in Christ.

In the section "How could you agree to test the Spirit of the Lord?(v.9)": How did Ananias & Sapphira "test the Spirit of God"? Why did it lead to their death, and how is this an illustration of what could happen to us?

How does this relate to the original sin of Adam & Eve (read Genesis 2:17 and Genesis 3:4 and explain)?

In the "Conclusion": Why do you think God uses such extreme examples to help us understand the consequences of our actions? Cite other examples in the Bible where such extremes are used and how they have affected your view of God.

What do you think of the word "fear", and is it an effective tool in preaching the Gospel (focus on the statement: "The true believers were in awe of God who protects His people from evil and establishes them firmly in truth)?

In "Body Life", by Ray Stedman, In Acts Chapter 5, How does the story of Ananias & Sapphira and Barnabas compare to the that of Cain and Abel?

How is "unconcious hypocracy" present in the church today?

What problem did Stedman say was found at Taylor University?

How does pride and pretense bring death to the body of Christ? What is the remedy?

What is the "body life" referred to in this sermon? How can it help those around us and the world in a positive manner?

How can seeing and accepting your inadequacy help you to live the Christian life?

In today's daily devotion, entitled "All Together": How does praise and worship unite our hearts and spirits? Play the two hymn videos and comment on the relation of the lyrics to today's sermons and devotion.
