Discussion 3: This week's sermon is about waiting for the Lord's return, and various insights into why He is coming and what we should do in the meantime. The text is found in Matthew 25: 1-13, but to gain proper understanding in context you should read the whole chapter. It would also be helpful to read chapters 23 and 24, since they are mentioned in the sermon, and give you a better idea as to what Jesus is talking about. It will also help you understand the true meaning of our text and be able to discern false interpretations and motives. We can see that this is the reason Jesus taught in parables and we should pray that He would reveal the true meanings to us. We can see that only God can determine who will enter the kingdom and no amount of effort or contriving on our part will help at all. Only the true anointing of the Holy Spirit allows us through the grace of God to recognize the bridegroom and will also determine who is chosen apart from the Law.
